shnapper is a company focussing on enabling merchants, called shnappees, to be able to accept crypto-currency as a form of payment from shnapsters via shnapPoints, mobile APPs, PSP’s or online.

A shnapster is any person using the shnap.it Wallet, or 3rd party crypto-wallets, to perform payments or to transact with each other.

The Lightning Network is a second-layer network for Bitcoin that speeds up transaction processing and significantly reduces the cost of lower-value transactions. shnapper has set a transaction limit to 0.01 BTC, approximately R12,000 depending on the exchange rate.

Currently, consumers hold their own BTC in wallets to pay at shnapPoints. The shnap.it App allows consumers to choose their currency, with ZAR as the default.
